Annemarie Cabri

One of few teachers in Canada with extensive experience in Brain-Compatible Dance Education, Annemarie trained in this unique method following a performing career on world stages.

Today, she works as a Senior Teaching Artist for the National Ballet of Canada and Canadian Opera Company, along with performing and creating opportunities for the growing Silver Swans® community as a licensee through the Royal Academy of Dance.

Passionately interested in how dance spurs creative thinking and learning, Annemarie offers programs that allow even the uninitiated a taste of the power that movement can convey. The versatility of Annemarie’s artistic abilities, established over many years, has allowed her to work with those who are non-dance-trained in a variety of environments, including the studio, school gymnasiums and classrooms, universities, hospitals, art galleries, and public spaces.

Often a celebration of the everyday, her choreographic work focuses on forging relationships among participants, cultivating a sense of place, and nurturing an experience of the joys of dance story-making.

Her enthusiasm to share dance arises from her deep love of the art form and her conviction of its profound health benefits. Annemarie is mother of two, and grateful to live, work, and create in Canada on the territorial land of many Indigenous Peoples.

“Annemarie is an unusually gifted Teaching Artist, who is as skilled, and has worked as hard to understand the educator’s role as she did to become a professional dancer. She has a long history of success, and a great store of wisdom as a result.”
